Migingo is an island

Migingo is an island in the continent of Africa. Migingo Island is located on the eastern side of Lake Victoria. Hundreds of people live on this island, which is smaller than a football field.

Migingo Island is one of the most densely populated islands in the world. More than 100 people live here in every two thousand square meters.

However, the total population on this island is close to a thousand. And the island has only three toilets for the total population.

All the population living on the island are fishermen. Their livelihood is by catching fish in the sea. However, even though they are fishermen by profession, many fishermen do not have their own boats. They depend on other boats to catch fish in the sea. Although slums were once built in the middle of the island, after 2004 fishermen started building houses.

There is also a dispute over this small island surrounded by blue waters. The small island continues to be disputed between Kenya and Uganda over its possession. Both countries claim the island as their own.

It takes only two hours to reach this island from Kenya. Due to which they are claiming this island as their own. The Kenyan people have also called on the government several times to go to international courts to claim the land in their own name.

The touch of modernity is very little in this island. All mobile phones are charged from a single shop on the island. Actually it is only one saloon. There is a phone charge in exchange for money. There is only one medical center where minor ailments are treated. But surprisingly, this small island is also home to a casino.

But the environment of the island is not good at all as the island is densely populated. The island is surrounded by dirt and garbage. The island also has a high number of harmful insects. Many people living here are suffering from various deadly diseases including malaria.

Those living here who are Kenyan nationals can go home once a week. However, since 2004, Uganda has started to dominate itself. They started sending armed forces as a first step. They are even collecting taxes in the name of protecting fishermen.

Kenya also sent a navy to the island to see it. There is no peace and order in the island. There are various allegations against the fishermen, the law enforcement agencies of the two countries in this unrest in the small island.
